Simplify Sales Tax A guide to the Streamlined Sales Tax program

Providers

Avior as an SST Certified Service Provider

Avior is one of the six providers certified by the Streamlined Sales Tax Governing Board, under contract effective January 1, 2024, and it currently offers free CSP services to qualifying sellers. Sales and use tax is one of its five product lines, sold as SutTax, and it publishes no price on either of its two domains.

Start with what kind of company you’d be buying from, because it shapes everything below. Avior sells tax software and services to US distributors and retailers, and sales tax is one line of five. The other four are tobacco and vapor, motor fuel, beverage alcohol, and MSA and scan data reporting, which is excise territory. The sales tax line splits into three products: SutTax Determination for calculation, SutTax Compliance for returns, and SutTax Streamlined for the program work. Certification under the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement is what lets the member states pay Avior directly for certified work done for sellers who qualify, instead of that bill landing on you.

Is Avior certified, and does it offer free CSP services?

Yes to both, though they’re two separate facts and worth checking one at a time.

The Governing Board’s Avior listing dates the contract from January 1, 2024, the only effective date the Board publishes for any of the six. Don’t read tenure into that either way: no published evidence ties how long a provider has been certified to how well it does the work.

Avior sits on the Board’s certified provider list among the providers offering free services, on the other side of the line from Exactor, which is certified and isn’t currently offering them. Avior’s own Streamlined page frames this as money rather than status: the participating states, it says, cover “the cost of using Avior to help qualified sellers manage sales tax” and it puts the count at 24 participating states.

Treat that 24 as the program’s membership roster, not as a count of the states that will pay for you. Qualification is decided state by state by the CSP-compensated seller test, and your own answer can differ in every one of them. For what the certified work consists of in general, see what a Certified Service Provider is.

What does Avior actually do?

Two published service lists exist and they don’t agree. The Governing Board listing carries the longer one, Avior’s own Streamlined page a shorter feature list, and where they diverge you’re looking at something claimed in one place and not repeated in the other. Job by job, here is what the record supports.

Calculation is the best documented part of the product. SutTax Determination is the rate engine, and Avior claims full support in all 50 states including city and county jurisdictions, with real-time rate updates, address verification, and product taxability classification behind it.

Registration is named and never explained. State registration appears on the Governing Board listing and nowhere else. Nothing on the Streamlined page or elsewhere on the SutTax site describes how it works, checked 2026-08-19, so it’s a service to scope in conversation rather than one you can evaluate on paper.

Filing and remittance run through SutTax Compliance. Avior describes SutTax Compliance converting data out of your back-end financial system into ready-to-sign documents, filed electronically or on paper. The Streamlined page lists filing and remittance automation and the Governing Board listing adds tax payment, so moving the money is in scope alongside preparing the return.

Audit support is documented and notice response isn’t. The Governing Board listing names audit support, and Avior says SutTax Compliance logs every taxing jurisdiction’s correspondence and generates reports for audit answers. The other half is missing: someone taking a state notice off your desk and answering it is not described anywhere checked 2026-08-19. For a multi-state filer that’s the work that eats the most time, so put it on the call agenda.

Exemption certificates, nexus tracking, and license management all appear on the Governing Board listing, and exemption management turns up again in the Streamlined page’s feature list, which makes it one of the few items both lists carry.

What does Avior integrate with?

For most buyers this is the section that settles it, so start here rather than with the feature list. Avior’s published integrations list runs to eight platforms across two pages: Adobe Magento, nopCommerce, Odoo, Oracle NetSuite, QuickBooks, Shopware, Spree Commerce, and WooCommerce. Each covers the same three jobs, rate calculation, return generation, and exemption certificate handling, and the Governing Board listing calls the checkout side of that cart integration plug-ins.

The shape of that list tells you who Avior built for. It leans toward open-source storefronts and mid-market business systems, and it puts a full ERP, Oracle NetSuite, next to an accounting system, QuickBooks. If your orders and your ledger already sit in one of those eight, there’s a documented path in. Avior adds that SutTax Determination fits any back-office accounting system and slots into an ERP or financial system, but that’s a claim about adaptability rather than a named connector, and you can’t scope an implementation from it.

What the list leaves out is the finding to act on. No Shopify, no BigCommerce, no marketplace connector, and no subscription billing system, so no Stripe, no Chargebee, no Recurly, and no Zuora. If your orders arrive through any of those, settle that on the first call rather than the last.

What does Avior cost?

You can’t tell from anything Avior publishes. Not published, checked 2026-08-19: no pricing page and no dollar figure on avior.tax or on suttax.avior.tax, and no pricing URL in the navigation or footer of either domain. There’s no published pricing model either, so no tier and no unit of measure to build a comparison on.

The only route in is a conversation. The single call to action on the Streamlined page is a risk-free-trial button, and it resolves to a contact form asking for your name, company, company size, and a message. No trial length is stated, no trial terms, and there’s no self-service signup, so a scoping call comes before a number. For what the other five publish, see what each certified provider charges.

How does Avior handle support?

Support is named as a feature, and the naming is the whole of it. Avior’s Streamlined page says: “Reputable customer support to assist businesses with any issues or questions related to sales tax compliance.” That sentence is the complete published commitment. Around it sit documentation for SutTax Compliance and SutTax Determination, a tax information section in the footer, and an email address and phone number on the Governing Board listing.

Everything a controller would actually ask for is absent: hours, time zone, a response-time target, an escalation path, a ticketing system, a service level agreement. None of it is published anywhere checked 2026-08-19. That isn’t evidence the support is poor. It means there’s nothing on the record to hold anyone to, so get those terms in writing first.

Best fit for a company whose tax problem starts with excise

Avior publishes for companies whose tax problem starts with excise verticals rather than with sales tax. If you already file tobacco and vapor, motor fuel, beverage alcohol, or MSA returns, sales tax under Streamlined lands with a vendor that already handles the harder half of your tax calendar.

The platform fit points the same way. Run one of the eight listed integrations, most likely Oracle NetSuite, Odoo, or QuickBooks, and determination and return generation feed straight back into the system you close the books in.

And if you’d rather open with a scoping conversation than a price list, that preference costs you nothing here, because a contact form is the only route Avior publishes.

Not a fit for

Sell on Shopify or BigCommerce, sell through a marketplace, or bill subscriptions through Stripe, Chargebee, or Recurly, and none of that appears on Avior’s published integration list. That’s the first call to make, not the last.

Need a cost comparison before you talk to a vendor and Avior drops out on the spot, because there’s no figure on either domain and the only way in is a contact form.

Need a stated response time or an escalation path before your approvers will sign, and Avior publishes no support commitment of any kind for them to read.

And if notice handling is the job you’re trying to hand off, that service isn’t described anywhere in Avior’s published record, so you’d be buying it on trust.

Sources, and when this profile was last checked

Profile last checked: August 19, 2026. Everything above comes from Avior’s own public materials and the Governing Board listing, with no competitor page, review aggregator, or data vendor used. Avior publishes no scale figures, so this profile carries none.

One structure observation, recorded with its fetch date and not as an inference about intent, commitment, or service quality. Avior’s Streamlined material lives on the suttax.avior.tax subdomain. The corporate site at avior.tax carries Sales Tax as the first item in its main navigation and links that item to the subdomain, but the words Streamlined and Certified Service Provider appear neither in that navigation nor on the corporate homepage as fetched.

  • Governing Board: the certified service provider list and the Avior detail page, both linked above.
  • Avior: the Streamlined Sales Tax page and the published integrations list on suttax.avior.tax, the SutTax Compliance and SutTax Determination product pages, and the corporate site at avior.tax.

These pages change. Confirm current terms with Avior directly, and see whether to enroll in Streamlined at all.
